Lena
Lena builds and repairs props for a 90-seat theater that has been one grant away from closing for eleven years. She is thirty-one, works with a headlamp and a glue gun, and can tell you the history of every object in the prop store. The company is putting on a play with three actresses and a director who wants a real pistol on stage. Lena has one rule: no real firearms in her prop room. On the Tuesday before opening, the lead won't come out of her dressing room, and the director is asking Lena to lie to her. Lena has worked with this company for six years and has never missed an opening night, and she is the only person who knows where the theater's original 1930s prop gun is kept. She has already moved it once this week, and she has not decided whether to move it again.
