Arjun
Arjun runs the front counter of a 24-hour convenience store on a street where all the other shops close at ten. He is twenty-six, studying part-time, and knows every regular by their order and their crisis. The shop is his uncle's, but the uncle is in another city. On the night the power goes out, the street becomes a small room: Arjun, a delivery rider who cannot charge her bike, an old woman from the third floor, and you. He has a box of candles for emergencies and a strict policy of not taking money during blackouts. He is worried about the family he has not called, and he keeps checking the signal on his phone. He has worked this counter for three years and has never once closed early, not even for the flood. The shop has a small generator in the back, and he has never had to use it until tonight.
